(02/18/08) Matthew Hellstern to head Chemtura Urethanes


MIDDLEBURY, CT -- Matthew Hellstern has assumed leadership of the Chemtura Urethanes business unit as vice president, announced Chief Business Officer & Group President Robert Wedinger, Chemtura Corporation (NYSE:CEM).  Mr. Hellstern replaces John Dennerlein, who now leads the Industrial Lubricants & Additives unit in Chemtura’s Petroleum Additives business. Mr. Hellstern also continues as vice president of Performance Specialties Products.

Joining Chemtura in 2006, Mr. Hellstern was responsible for the management and divestiture of Chemtura’s Fluorine business, as well as the acquisition and integration of Kaufman Holdings Corporation.  A graduate of Villanova with a B.S. in engineering, he also holds an M.B.A. from Lehigh University.

CHICAGO, February 26 2008 – On March 12, 2008, Palos Heights resident, Bruce DeMent, will be inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. Bruce DeMent, President of Kastalon, Inc. is being recognized for his entrepreneurial achievements and making a lasting impact on Chicago’s business landscape. The Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago will host the event at the Chicago Hilton and Towers.

(04/14/08) Pathway Polymers Por-A-Mold soon to be Mercury Free


Chattanooga, Tennessee (Monday, April 14, 2008) - Pathway Polymers, has announced their intentions of releasing a newly developed mercury free system for their trademarked Por-A-Mold line of polyurethane elastomers.

(4/22/08) Bayer MaterialScience and Baulé establish systems house join venture


Leverkusen/Romans, 22 April, 2008 – Bayer MaterialScience AG and Michel Baulé
SA have signed an agreement to merge their respective cast elastomers businesses
into a joint venture named Baule´ SAS, in which each company will hold a 50 percent
interest. It will be headquartered in Romans, France. Deliveries and technical
support for customers all over the world will be ensured by the joint ventures French
and German sites and its subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, the United States and
China. The transaction will be completed subject to the approval of the relevant
antitrust authorities. Financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed.  
 
“This joint venture brings together the comprehensive and unique know-how of Bayer
MaterialScience in polyurethane cast elastomers including the competence of the
global BaySystems network of systems houses, and the long-term experience and
the extensive processing knowledge of the globally operating and successful
polyurethane elastomer systems house Baulé,” says Peter Vanacker, head of the
Polyurethanes Business Unit and a member of the Executive Committee of Bayer
MaterialScience.  
 
“Our new joint venture will be operating in a growing market and will hence be facing
bright business perspectives. It will be very close to its customers, thereby continuing
the successful Baulé approach, but in addition the alliance with Bayer
MaterialScience will considerably strengthen the global position of Bauléthanks to
the BaySystems network of polyurethane systems houses,” explains Michel Baulé,
head of the Baulé group of companies and designated President and CEO of the
new alliance.  
 
The new company will develop, produce and market prepolymer systems for hot-
and cold-cast elastomers and the low-pressure dispensing equipment for processing
them. The systems are used for high-quality specialty applications in various sectors,
ranging from the paper industry through the sports and leisure goods sector to
concrete processing and mining. They are characterized by exceptional elasticity,
tear resistance and abrasion resistance. Services available include customized
formulations, processing equipment, intensive application technology support and
the development and optimization of processes and prototypes.

(05/03/08) Pathway Polymers Master Works Line Wins Award


Chattanooga, Tennessee (Monday, March 3, 2008) - Pathway Polymers (formerly Hyperlast North America) announced that their Master Works M1 product line was recently named Attendees’ Choice for Most Innovative Product (MIP) in the Decorative category at the 2008 World of Concrete exhibit held in Las Vegas, NV.

Master Works is a new material for use in composites, construction, and reproduction industries. It is a two component, water based, acrylic polymer/mineral resin system that can be hand and spray laminated.

“We were very pleased with the amount of booth traffic Master Works generated at this year’s show” remarked Doug Van Brunt, Pathway Polymers’ VP of Commercial Development.
The Chattanooga, TN chemical manufacturer employs a staff of 49 workers and is a subsidiary of the British based Vita Group. (May 2008) Chemtura Names Rick DePew VP, Global Sales, Performance Specialties


MIDDLEBURY, CT – Chemtura Corporation (NYSE:CEM) has named Rick DePew a Vice President, Global Sales, Performance Specialties. This includes Chemtura’s Petroleum Additives and Urethane businesses.

He succeeds Rick Beitel, who is retiring.
Mr. DePew joins Chemtura from NOVA Chemicals, where he served as business director for their Advanced Foam Resins business.  Prior to that position, he was commercial director for NOVA Chemical’s Polyethylene business.

Mr. DePew also worked for The Dow Chemical Company for 23 years.  He served as global director of Procurement for Strategic Capital Purchases, director of sales for the Polyolefins and Elastomers business, regional sales manager for the Polyurethanes/Epoxies business, and other sales, marketing and commercial roles.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, Mr. DePew earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Western Michigan University.
