New in 2018! Breakout Sessions

A new addition to this year’s PMA are “breakout sessions”. Four interesting topics have been selected representing some of the challenges facing our member companies today. Pick one or two that are most interesting to you, and pull up a chair to seek wisdom and share best practices with your industry peers.

Session 1:Monday, May 7, 11:10 am - 12:00 pm
Session 2: Monday, May 8, 1:00pm - 1:50 pm

  • LEAN efforts and implementation hurdles
    • Discuss which LEAN tools have been successful, which have had challenges, and what improvements your company can make.
  • Hiring, Motivating and Retaining Hourly Labor
    • Employees are the heart of every company – Share ideas about attracting, retaining, and supporting your employees to build a strong and healthy workforce.
  • Automation – Improving Quality and Efficiency through Automation
    • Discuss how automation can affect efficiency, reduce variation, and improve your processes.
  • Disaster Preparedness
    • What would happen at your company if it withstood natural, electrical, or digital disruptions? Talk about how others have prepared, and how you can, too.
Times and locations TBD. Please be mindful of company information during discussion. Confidential information regarding product, data regarding cycle times, salary, etc should not be disclosed. Discussions will be centered around high level ideas that have succeeded and challenges during implementation.

Everglades Excursions
1-800-592-0848

Half-Day Tour (4 - 4.5 Hours)
Cost: $96; returns by 1:30

The adventure begins as you depart in a climate-controlled vehicle, escorted by an interactive eco-trained tour guide. The guide provides full-narration of the Everglades, including facts on the distinct Eco-systems and indigenous wildlife. Guests will be educated on everything from the history of the Seminole trading business to the strong conservation efforts to save endangered species.

Guests will board authentic airboats upon arrival in the Everglades for an exhilarating ride through the backwaters of the Gulf, including mangrove tunnels and old Indian trails. The experienced airboat captains will wind through the rugged Ten Thousand Islands, revealing the hiding spots of alligators, manatee and other local inhabitants.

You will experience an authentic wildlife sanctuary, situated on 259 lush acres which are surrounded by the Big Cypress National Park. While at the sanctuary you will have the opportunity to see over 100 alligators, some of the largest crocodiles in captivity, as well as lions, tigers, a bobcat, and a reptile exhibit. All animals within the sanctuary are either rescued from their previous owners or are being cared for due to injuries.

Full Day Tour (7.5 - 8 Hours)
Cost: $134 (Includes lunch)

After the wildlife sanctuary, you will experience an authentic taste of the Everglades luncheon at the City Seafood Restaurant. This unique location offers picturesque vistas while you dine overlooking the Barron River. The local authentic restaurant is nestled in this small fishing village of Everglades City. You will enjoy outdoor and indoor dining as you watch pelicans, seagulls, manatees, tarpon, and occasionally alligators playing right off of the dock!

The Ten Thousand Island tour goes through the saltwater portion of the Everglades, the tour is fully narrated by a park trained naturalist as we weave through one of the world’s largest mangrove forests. Often seen are manatees, bald eagles, ospreys, roseate spoonbills, and the dolphins love to jump and play in the wake of the boat.
